The Ram varsity volleyball team struggled at the Ballard tournament Sept. 16, losing all four matches. They lost to North Polk 20-22, 18-22; to Pella 9-21, 9-21; to Woodward-Granger 7-21, 7-21; and to Grandview Christian 16-21, 14-21.
“We had a rather rough day, losing a close match in our first contact of the day and then playing second ranked Pella in our next match. We couldn’t meet to get any momentum going in our match against Woodward-Grandview or Grandview Christian,” said coach Donna Carhill.
Chantel Flack served at 22 for 22. Aubrey Heupel served at 22 of 25 with one ace, and Ashley Millard served at 18 of 19. Megan Durbin had 24 kills and 13 digs. Samantha Hardaway had 11 kills and 12 digs. Heupel had 43 assists.
“We served pretty well in this tournament, but it was apparent that we need to continue to work on our defense,” Carhill said.
